Traffic Awareness camp for Women Safety

On 14 July 2018, a Traffic awareness camp for women safety was organised at HSJ Dental College, Sector 25, in association with Chandigarh traffic police and Rotaract club Dental College. The focus was on use of helmets and no honking. The event was inaugurated by Rtn Dr. Jagat Bhushan, Principal, HSJ Dental college.

The inaugural speech was given by SSP traffic, Mr.Shashank Anand, who highlighted the use of helmets for safety of women. SHO of traffic police highlighted the issues of safety while driving and explained various road safety signs.

Among the Club members present were: President A.P. Singh, Rtn Sartaj Lamba, Rtn Dr. Santosh Gupta, PP Kewal Seth, Rtn O.P. Sukhija, and Rtn G.P.S. Bhalla.

Adolescents Health Education Program at Saketri Slum

Dr Manvi and Dr Gian from PGI addressed about 60 adolescents and their mothers from the Saketri slum, on the Physical and Mental health issues which impact adolescents. Ms Sunanda Dixit, Ms Harsharan and their staff and volunteer assisted in organizing the program.

Dr Manvi broadly covered the health problems, both physical and mental health issues, especially the importance of menstrual hygiene amongst girls and how to safeguard against teenage pregnancies. Among the other issues explained were: the good and bad touch and how to be vigilant against such an eventuality; concept of a balanced diet and exercise and its importance on general health; substance abuse; and intentional and unintentional violence.

Cremation ground Toilet project

 

rotary toilet project-02On 10 July 2018, a MOU for the cremation ground toilets block renovation, expansion and provision of hand washing and bathing facilities was signed between Municipal Council Chandigarh and four partners (three corporate entities and Chandigarh Rotary Club Service Trust).

The partners providing funds are: PRIP RK Saboo, Rtn Jagesh Khaitan and Rtn PJ Singh through their companies/trusts, and RC Chandigarh through its Trust.

The project cost is Rs 40 lacs which will be contributed equally by the partners.

This project was initiated by PRIP Saboo on a request and a suggestion by the advisor, UT Chandigarh, and on a further request by the Commissioner MC. It is a first of its kind project where the total cost is being met by CSR and NGO funds. While providing better facilities to people who join in the last journey of those who leave this world, it will be an example of how partnership between the government and the governed can create meaningful infrastructure in the city.
