Installation of Rotaract Club MCM DAV College

Rotaract Club of MCM DAV College held its annual Installation Ceremony, PANACEA, on 21 August in the college premises.

The event started with a Lamp lighting ceremony, followed by Ganesh Vandana. Outgoing President Kirti gave a presentation of the good work done during the previous year and incoming President Saloni shared her goals for 2018-19.

President A.P. Singh and PP Baldev Aggarwal addressed the young Rotaractors.

Long-term Exchange Student from USA

We have been joined by young Hadiyah EMI Nomsa Tolson from Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA, under long term youth exchange program of Rotary. She has been sponsored by our club. She arrived on 20 August and will be studying in Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh.

Independence Day celebrations

Independence day celebrations were held at Village Saketri where we are undertaking a major project in the slum area. Members from SEWA, Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, volunteers and beneficiary families and their children were also present along with local leaders.

Initiating the program, Mrs Sunanda of SEWA thanked Rotary Club and Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan for supporting and encouraging the team. She shared the background of the project where the spadework started about one year back. The project has been able to initiate small changes in the community. From a few takers of the program to start off, the number has swelled to about 100. “The basti has brought in cleanliness and we will have an ideal clean basti and the same will be demonstrated on 2 October,” she said.

The entertainment program started with SEWA prayer titled Ae Malik tere bande Hum. A dance performance by two young girls on Desh rangeela song was appreciated by all. There was also a Gidha performance, followed by a solo dance by a young girl from the community.

President A.P. Singh said, “we wish to  do the project efficiently and we wish to bring in change for the better and help the community overcome poverty and discrimination. Our endeavour is to work with the basti and the village so that we can help them live a better life.”

He added that parents should support their children in their efforts to educate themselves as also find their latent talents. “With their achievements, all in the family and society will benefit.” He also prompted children to work for a better life and standard of living by achieving career goals through hard work and dedication.

Vote of thanks was presented by Ms Sunanda of SEWA.

It was indeed a satisfying experience for all the Rotarians who attended the function.

Installation of Rotaract Club Chandigarh 

rotaract-chd-install-01Praythar, the installation ceremony of Rotaract Club Chandigarh, was held on 14 August 2018. DG Parveen Goyal was the Chief Guest and President A.P Singh was the Guest of Honour.

The ceremony commenced with National Anthem ,followed by lighting up of lamp. The previous year’s team showcased its work, which was followed by Collaring of Rtr. Ravneet Dhaliwal as the new President.

President A.P Singh , Rtn Baldev Aggarwal and DG Parveen Goyal extended a supporting hand to the President and her team.

 

Interact Club St John’s Installation

On 1 August 2018, the new cabinet of the Interact Club of St. John’s High School was installed. President A.P. Singh, along with few of the Club members graced the event.

The ceremony began with a prayer to the Almighty, followed by a
hymn and lighting of the lamp. The outgoing Secretary, Yuvraj Dhananjaya, thanked the previous year’s cabinet for the extraordinary work done and handed the torch over to the new office-bearers.  Incoming president, Shaurya Mahajan, put forth the club’s goals for 2018-19.

The programme ended with a “nukkar natak” on the prevalent social issue of alcoholism and addiction.

Interact Club AKSIPS 41 Investiture Ceremony

The Investiture Ceremony of the Interact Club of AKSIPS 41 Smart School was organised in the school premises on 31 July 2018.

The programme began with the  motivational song “Aashayein”, presented by the school choir.

The newly elected office bearers of the Interact Club were presented with the collar and the collar pins by the President A. P. Singh Dhiman. The outgoing President of the Interact Club, Naman Ahuja, showcased the achievements and the innumerable projects undertaken by the Club  in year 2017-18, which  included visits to old age homes and  orphanages, cleanliness drives and anti-cracker rally.

The team 2018-19 is: President – Rohan Sharma; Vice President – Parikshit; Secretary – Himanshu Gupta; Joint Secretary – Tanisha; Treasurer – Aditi; Sergeant-at-Arms – Avleen; Directors – Aviraj, Ankit, Arshdeep K, Gurbir K.

Installation of Interact Club Aurobindo School

On 27 July 2018, Sri Aurobindo School of Integral Education conducted the installation ceremony of Interact club. President A.P.S. Dhiman presided over the function.

The ceremony started with Ganesh Vandana. Outgoing President, Shweta, gave an insight of her team’s accomplishments and invited the Incoming President, Jagriti, to share her plans for the year ahead.

The new office bearers are: President – Jagriti, Vice President – Gunjan, Secretary – Hansika, Joint Secretary – Rohini, Treasurer – Raj Pratap.

The children promised to bring leadership into action with the pledge of SERVICE ABOVE SELF. President Dhiman praised the school management and the Interactors for putting
up a great show. He motivated the young Interactors to work for the betterment of society with the virtue of leadership, forbearance and benevolence and wished them good luck for the future endeavour.

Medical Mission to Uganda

A medical mission, consisting of 18 doctors of different specialties and 7 volunteers including Rotarians and spouses, is leaving for Uganda on 5 August 2018 and will be in Uganda till 15 August.

The doctors will operate upon a large number of patients and also hold OPDs for thousands. Rotarians Dr. SPS Grewal and Dr. Jagat Bhushan from our Club are part of the team of doctors. PRIP RK Saboo and R’Ann Usha Saboo are going as volunteers with the mission.

A brainchild of PRIP RK Saboo, it was exactly 20 years ago that the first medical mission went to Uganda and the country is being revisited on the occasion of 20th anniversary of the medical missions. The budget outlay of this project is US $97000. The mission is a project of Rotary District 3080, along with Districts 3131 and 3132.
