On 19 July 2019, the Interact Club of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh organised its Installation Ceremony for the office bearers. President A.P Singh was the Chief Guest of the Ceremony. The other distinguished guests who graced the occasion were PRIP R.K. Saboo and PDG Madhukar Malhotra.
The new office bearers, led by the incumbent President Charvi Koul, were presented with the collar and the collar pins by President A. P. Singh and Sr. Principal, Mrs. Vineeta Arora.
A poem on the plight of our river Ganga, which is struggling with the rising levels of pollution, was presented by Aryaman Mohan of class X. A mesmerizing Bharat Natyam performance by Saumya and Sanya of class XI was much appreciated by the audience. The school Choir rendered a riveting song performance and the whole environment reverberated with the spirit of nationalism and solidarity.
Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh contributed Rs 1,52,711.00 to Indian Development Foundation (IDF), a NGO dedicated to the upliftment and education of leprosy affected patients and other health issues.
The young volunteers from Interact Club made a spirited effort to generate awareness about the social cause. All the students from classes VI to XII participated in this drive. The cheque was presented to Ms. Anushree Rastogi, representative of IDF, by Sr. Principal, Mrs. Vineeta Arora.
On 10 July 2018, a MOU for the cremation ground toilets block renovation, expansion and provision of hand washing and bathing facilities was signed between Municipal Council Chandigarh and four partners (three corporate entities and Chandigarh Rotary Club Service Trust).
The partners providing funds are: PRIP RK Saboo, Rtn Jagesh Khaitan and Rtn PJ Singh through their companies/trusts, and RC Chandigarh through its Trust.
The project cost is Rs 40 lacs which will be contributed equally by the partners.
This project was initiated by PRIP Saboo on a request and a suggestion by the advisor, UT Chandigarh, and on a further request by the Commissioner MC. It is a first of its kind project where the total cost is being met by CSR and NGO funds. While providing better facilities to people who join in the last journey of those who leave this world, it will be an example of how partnership between the government and the governed can create meaningful infrastructure in the city.
On 1 July 2018, the new Rotary year started with our Club project Rahat which was formally launched by Mr. Shashank Anand, SSP Traffic, Chandigarh, at Aroma Hotel. He distributed around 20 sets of water bottles and towels to the rickshaw pullers and appreciated our efforts.
After the formal launch, teams of Rotarians and Rotaractors spread out in the city to distribute around 300 sets of water bottles and towels to rickshaw pullers. This was the first phase of the project.
The launch was attended by Rotarians Vinod Kapoor, IPP P.S. Matharoo, PP Kewal Seth, PP Ramesh Bhatia, GPS Bhalla, Manish Gupta, Pratap Aggarwal, PE S.P. Kaur, PP Hassan Mejie, Jatinder Kapoor, O.P. Sukhija, Lalita Jagmohan Singh and Praveen Aggarwal.
